Rehoboth Beach, Revisited

Since New Year's Day fell on a Friday this year, I had some time to really revel in the fact that it had become 2016. This left me thinking about how I wanted to start things off as I was driving around Saturday. I looked at the weather forecast, and happened to see that it was going to be in the 50s the next day in Rehoboth. I immediately asked my best friend, Britney, and her boyfriend, Ben, if they wanted to come with me to the beach, and they surprisingly said yes. So, early the next morning, we were off. I was a little worried as the thermometer in my car read 29

degrees as we pulled away, but by the time we parked the car, it was solidly in the 40s.

And the day turned out to be fabulous. We walked Rehoboth Avenue, ate and drank at Dogfish Head Brewpub, and went on an adventure to find Lewes' red lighthouse. I made a post about Rehoboth on my previous blog, here. What was so cool this time was the fact that it was January and only the locals were there. Dogs are allowed on the beach in the off-season so lots of pleasant pooches were crashing through the icy waves with their owners casually walking along the shore. It was a refreshing crowd. Also, Cape Henlopen State Park was free to get into. I could tell it gets busy during the summer, but on this perfect Sunday, it was wonderful to walk along the empty beaches and listen to the waves crashing onto the sand.

Although it's my goal to one day visit the beach when there's snow on the ground, it was a fantastic experience to be there on an unusually warm day in January. I suggest it always if you have the chance. What's that saying? "Salt in the Air, Sand in my Hair"? I wish I were cool enough to claim that as my life's motto.

Enjoy the photos! Keep adventuring! xoxo
