One Year Old

As of December 4, 2016, Wayfaring will be one year old.

It's crazy to think about everything that's happened within this past year - how much has changed, the major events. I got married! My husband and I bought a house! I finished graduate school and landed my dream job! (Don't worry, I am not also pregnant.)

Looking ahead to 2017, I've already taken some measures to ensure I continue the creativity now that things are (finally, finally!) settling down. As Wayfaring turns one year old, I'd like to take the time to list my goals and aspirations for this space, and lay out for you, dear reader, what you can hope to look forward to.

Goals

  1. Blog at least twice a month. I've already told myself not to fret, not to overthink things, and to just create! Obviously I want the content to be good, and relevant, but I also don't want to pressure myself so much into doing something that I don't do it at all.

  2. Incorporate more at-home recipes and photos. My husband and I are all about cooking at home as much as possible. We've made some really delicious and simply stunning-to-look-at dishes. Most of them come from cookbooks, but we try to tweak them to suit our tastebuds. All it requires is that I pull out my camera and shoot!

  3. Discuss our home renovations and projects. We just purchased our first home in August. It's a one-story house built originally in 1945, so there are improvements that need to be made. We're starting with the simple ones while we pay off student loans and other minor debts before saving up to accomplish some of the bigger tasks (finishing out the basement and making the attic liveable, adding a full bath and a half bath, etc.). I'd love to document its before-and-after journeys as well as what worked for us and what didn't so much :)

  4. Do monthly wrap-ups: what I've learned (skills, relationships, etc.), what I've created, and highlights of social media posts. These posts are always some of my favorites to read from other bloggers. I think they're so intimate and useful. So, if I can, I'd like to start incorporating some of my monthly highlights. If time allows, this may turn into a weekly thing... but no pressure!!

By the end of the year, I'd like Wayfaring to look like...

  • A beautifully laid-out space with useful, creative content that anyone could enjoy.

  • A space with at least 24 posts between now and December 4, 2017!

  • A cared-for space; one that has readers, and one whose readers are engaged!

  • A space that I am proud to publicly promote. Right now, it's scary to think about putting my content out there for friends and family to see. But maybe soon I'll not be afraid to do it.
