Mermaid Smoothie Bowls

I'm so excited, guys! I finally got around to making my first (and very ambitious) smoothie bowl using the Velvet Latte and Mermaid Latte powders from Nutra Organics Australia. I also used their recipe here, but I slightly modified it. They called theirs the Blurpinkle Smoothie Bowl, but I felt truly like a mermaid eating it, so I'm calling mine the Mermaid Smoothie Bowl. Their latte powders have super food ingredients, and their Velvet latte powder actually (naturally) sparkles! It's truly a magical experience. And, side note, their pictures are much more dreamy than mine, but whatever.
Just some other notes: it took me about two or three weeks from the time of my order to actually receiving them in the mail. I purchased mine in a bundle, and the currency was in the Australian dollar, so it ended up being slightly cheaper in American dollars with the conversion. However, I'm still going to offer some substitutes at the bottom on Amazon so you don't have to wait quite as long. I don't know that there are truly any identical products though, both in taste and ingredients . . . but I'll try to give you as accurate substitutes as possible. If you like chai tea, you'll love this smoothie as their powders are fortified with chai spices.
For my bowl, I added fresh strawberries on top, along with granola bites, and frozen blackberries. My blackberries were pretty old, so they didn't taste very good. However, I'm sure with freshly frozen blackberries, that mix with the fresh strawberries and the chai flavors would be out of this world. Also, I doubled the amount of liquid the recipe calls for because even with 1/2 cup liquid per one-third of the mix, it was still a little thick. Which, I guess it's supposed to be. But make sure your blender is high powered to handle a heavy mixture.

What You'll Need
3 bananas, frozen
Coconut flakes, to taste
1 1/2 cups Almond milk
2 tsp red powder (Velvet Latte)
3 tsp blue powder (Mermaid Latte)
Fresh & frozen fruit selection
Protein powder (optional)
Granola bites (optional)
Directions
My first step: pay attention, because I think my lack of following the directions is what made my bowl so dark instead of light and pretty like theirs. Haha! But they suggest blending your liquid, frozen bananas, and protein powder together first, then separating it into thirds, leaving the last third in the blender.
Add 2 tsp of your blue powder to the mixture in the blender, blend until combined. Scoop out into a bowl and put the bowl into the freezer.
Add the second third of your frozen banana mixture to the blender. Then add 1 tsp of red powder. Blend until combined, and scoop into bowl (it can be the same bowl your blue mixture is in). Place back in freezer.
Add the last third of your frozen banana mixture to the blender, then add 1 tsp each of your blue and red powders. Blend until combined into a pretty purple shade, and scoop into bowl in the freezer.
Feel free to swirl it around and then add your toppings! Enjoy!

Thanks for reading!! I'll see where this Smoothie Bowl path takes me - I'm hoping this won't be my one and only, but if it is, it was a pretty epic first and last, right?? Haha. xoxo
