The Book I Read in October

I started a lot of books at the end of September, and into October, but I only managed to get through one of them. It was a busy month with most of my weekends being taken up with wood-firing for the pottery guild I'm a member of. Plus, trying to focus on getting exercise (I was aiming to walk/run/bike 100k during the month, which I did) and just being better holistically with my health meant I read for a short amount of time some nights or binged Schitt's Creek for the third time since March. Lol.
Balance.
Anyway, the book I did get through, I really liked, and am looking forward to reading its "sequels." Shakespeare kept it interesting and entertaining, so if you're looking for a play of his to get into, I found this one easy to follow/understand and pretty funny. Enjoy the review!
Henry IV, Part I by William Shakespeare
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Shelves: Classic Lit, Comedy, History

Review: The reason this play gets such a high rating for me was because I went in with low expectations. I haven't read Shakespeare for pleasure *ever* but after thoroughly enjoying The King with Timothée Chalamet on Netflix, AND realizing it was based on Shakespeare's Henry plays, I decided to give it a go. Not to mention, I do have it on my bucket list to read all of Shakespeare's plays (I've enjoyed most of his plays, but have always read them in school).
I was pleasantly surprised by this play. It was so funny, and also had a good lead-up to the climax of the book. I understood it more than I thought I would, and didn't rely on the helpful "translations" as much as I anticipated. Falstaff and Hal's relationship was a lot of fun to read. Just am overall pretty happy with how much I enjoyed reading this.
Definitely looking forward to reading Part II, and Henry V!
